Overview
This business service is available to hospitals to record a newborn person in the Client Registry and assign a Personal Health Number (PHN), immediately upon the birth of the child.
Purpose
This business service is used to:
- assign a PHN to a baby born in a BC hospital,
- establish a relationship between the baby and its mother,
and
- ensure the Client Registry has a record of the child, thus ensuring that the PHN is available for any health care provider to record in their system, for unique client identification
.
Prerequisites
Access to this business service requires Ministry of Health Services approval and a signed Data Access Agreement (DAA), or Service Level Agreement (SLA), between the organization and the Ministry.
