Overview
This business service is used to:
- assign a Personal Health Number (PHN) to any person not recorded with the Ministry of Health Services, and
- record a person's demographic information,
for anyone seeking health services in BC.
This business service is available to authorized organizations and health care providers who deliver health services.
Purpose
This business service creates a unique, lifetime identifier (PHN) used by health care providers for identification of an individual who has interaction with the BC health system.
Prerequisites
Access to this business service requires Ministry of Health Services approval and a signed Data Access Agreement (DAA), or Service Level Agreement (SLA),
between the organization and the Ministry.
