Electronic Medical Summary (e-MS) Project
The e-MS Project is one initiative underway as part of BC’s Primary Health Care Transition Fund (PHCTF). The Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) is leading the project and will act as the pilot site. Key partners include the BC Ministry of Health Services, the BC Medical Association (BCMA), and the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA). In addition, at least one other primary health care environment in a BC health authority will pilot the e-MS Project in the four-year PHCTF funding time frame, ending on March 31, 2006. The e-MS will become one of the key components of the BC Electronic Health Record Strategy.

BC Provider Registry System
The BC Provider Registry System is a trusted source of information on BC healthcare providers and is available to authorized users. It currently contains basic profile information on physicians, pharmacists and registered nurses. The source data for this information is the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC, the College of Pharmacists of BC, the Registered Nurses Association of BC and the Medical Services Plan of BC.

Electronic Health Record (EHR) Architecture Project
The Health Authorities and the Ministry of Health Services have selected the EHR Architecture Project as a priority initiative, to lead in the development of an overall federated architecture to allow specific EHR projects and approaches to be positioned within a common framework.

BC Healthcare Client Identity Management Project
The BC Healthcare Client Identity Management Project is one of the building blocks of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) strategy. The project continues during Phase 2 to obtain consensus on single, common client identity solutions that benefit the BC healthcare sector.

Tactical Plan for Health Information Management in BC
Tactical Plan for Health Information Management in British Columbia - January 2005 is the second in an on-going series of annual tactical plans for health information management in British Columbia. The plan outlines new e-Health initiatives as well as builds on several that were initiated in the first tactical plan (issued May 2003). The plan focuses on initiatives the health authorities and the Ministry have selected as priority opportunities for province wide collaboration in the advancement of electronic health record capability.
